Sheet & View Grouping Codes¶
The Project Browser groups sheets by their Sheet Grouping parameter and views by their View Grouping parameter. Rather than typing the full group name each time, type one of the short codes below and it's replaced with the full name straight away.
For example, type PRI or 02 into a view's View Grouping, and it becomes 02 - Primary Ductwork.
The codes¶
| Group (what you get) | Type any of these |
|---|---|
| 01 - Coordinated Services | 01, CRD, COO, COR |
| 02 - Primary Ductwork | 02, PRI |
| 03 - Secondary Ductwork | 03, SECO |
| 04 - Fume Extract Ductwork | 04, FUM, SMO, SMK, LEV |
| 05 - HVAC | 05, HVA |
| 06 - Air Conditioning | 06, AIR, AC |
| 07 - CHW & LTHW | 07, CHW, LTHW |
| 08 - Drainage - Low Level | 08, LOW |
| 09 - Drainage - High Level | 09, HIG |
| 10 - Domestic Water | 10, DOM, HOT, COL |
| 11 - Plumbing | 11, PLU |
| 12 - Containment | 12, CON |
| 13 - Submains | 13, SUB |
| 14 - Small Power & Data | 14, SMA, PWR, POW, DAT |
| 15 - Lighting | 15, LTG, LIG |
| 16 - Fire Alarm | 16, FA, FIR |
| 17 - Security | 17, SECU |
| 18 - Mech Power | 18, MEC |
| 19 - Specialist Gas | 19, GAS, MED |
| 20 - Sprinklers | 20, SPR, DRY |
| 21 - Risers | 21, RIS, RSR |
| 22 - Plant Areas | 22, PLA, PLN, PLT |
| 23 - Builders Works | 23, BUI, BWK, BWI, BWIC |
| 24 - Typical | 24, TYP |
| 25 - Architectural Zoning | 25, ARC, ZON |
| 26 - Reflected Ceiling Plan | 26, REF, CEIL, RCP |
| 27 - Sketch | 27, SKT, SKE |
| 28 - Work In Progress | 28, WIP |
Codes aren't case-sensitive, so pri works as well as PRI. The whole value has to match a code: PRI works, but PRI L01 is left as typed.
Your own groupings¶
You don't have to use a code. Anything that isn't one of the codes above is left exactly as you type it, so you can create your own groups for personal working views or sheets.
Groups sort alphabetically in the Project Browser, so the number at the front controls where a group appears. For example:
00 - ABC Workingputs your views at the top, above the standard groups.99 - ABC Checksputs them at the bottom, below Work In Progress.
Tip
Starting a personal group with your initials, as above, makes it obvious whose views they are, and keeps them out of the way of the standard groups used for issued drawings.
Changing the list¶
The codes come from the SheetGeneratorData sheet of the master Excel file, X:\Revit Libraries\RevitViewTemplateAndFilterData.xlsx:
| Column | Holds |
|---|---|
| Prefix Code | The number, which also works as a code on its own. |
| Short Codes | The codes, separated by commas. |
| Grouping Folder | The group name. |
The full group name is the Prefix Code and Grouping Folder joined by a dash, for example 02 - Primary Ductwork.
The list is read when Revit starts, so after a change, restart Revit to pick it up. If the same code appears on two rows, the first row wins.
