Flip T.T.S. Part Tag Value

Reverses the direction used to work out a fitting's step up or step down value, for when the add-in has got the flow direction the wrong way round.

This doesn't flip the part

Nothing in the model moves. The fitting's geometry, connections and position are untouched. The tool only changes which way the add-in treats the air as flowing through the part, and so whether a change in level reads as a step up or a step down in the direction of flow.

Background: the T.T.S. tag value

An Integra add-in works out a short description of how each taper, transform (including drop cheeks), set and bend changes the duct, and writes it to the part's T.T.S. Tag parameter for tagging. It updates automatically whenever the part changes.

Value Meaning Used on
FOB Flat on bottom Tapers and transforms
FOT Flat on top Tapers and transforms
FOS Flat on side Tapers and transforms (shown with any of the above)
SU: n Steps up n mm in the direction of flow Tapers and transforms that aren't flat on top or bottom, offsets, sets and bends
SD: n Steps down n mm in the direction of flow As above
= Concentric: no change in level Tapers, transforms and concentric reducers
ECC Eccentric Eccentric reducers

Step values are rounded to the nearest 5 mm, and changes of less than 2 mm are ignored.

FOB, FOT, FOS, = and ECC read the same whichever way the air flows. SU and SD don't: the same change in level is a step up one way and a step down the other. That's where this tool comes in.

How the direction is worked out

  • Offsets, sets and bends: on supply ductwork the air is taken to flow from the larger end; on extract, return and exhaust, from the smaller end. Other services use the part's own connector order.
  • Tapers and transforms: the part's own connector order.

Where that guess is wrong, the value shows SU when it should be SD, or the other way round.

At a glance

Runs in Revit 2024
Ribbon Integra Tools tab → Tagging Tools panel → Flip T.T.S. Part Tag Value
Also on The Modify tab (T.T.S. panel), whenever a fitting with a T.T.S. value is selected
Works on Selected Fabrication ductwork fittings
Changes The part's Part Flipped setting, and so its T.T.S. Tag value. Nothing else.

Step by step

  1. Select the fittings whose SU / SD value is the wrong way round.
  2. Click Flip T.T.S. Part Tag Value, on the Integra Tools tab or, with the fittings selected, the T.T.S. panel on the Modify tab. If nothing was selected, select the fittings now and click Finish on the Options Bar.
  3. Check the tag now reads correctly. SU becomes SD, or the reverse, with the same value.

Running it again flips it back. The whole run is a single undo step.

Tip

Only flip parts showing SU or SD. Flipping a part showing FOB, FOT, FOS, = or ECC makes no visible difference, but it's remembered, so the value would come out reversed if the part were later changed to step up or down.
